Brazil fans flowed to the streets at the end of the Argentina-Germany match. Huge flex boards were pulled down, the hanging flags were burnt down. There were even processions that resulted in clashes. The police had to interfere in some places. Brazil fans distributed sweet porridge to the football viewers at Kotttakkal. Several Argentinean fans had to leave the place before the match was over. Huge digital screen was damaged in the clash in Tirurangadi. Fans had already bought crackers and were ready to fire them at the failure of Argentina in several places. But in others they forced open the shops to buy fire crackers. Celebrations went as far as midnight in several places. The police were vigilant as there was every chance for clashes.

The football fans of Malappuram had erected big digital screens at clubs and other public places to watch the World Cup. People used to flock in hundreds to watch the matches. Fans of each team had their favourite teams’ flags hanging all over the district. They spent huge amounts on flex boards showing the strength of their team and challenging the other teams. However, even though the World Cup has still got a few more days to go, excitement has gone down in Malappuram as their favourite teams have packed up to leave the dark continent.
