Lucknow: District administration took out flag march in old city on Sunday to gear up for the 19th Ramzan procession in Lucknow. The procession is taken out by shia muslims as per the tripartitie agreement between Sunnis, Shias and district administration in 1999 which permitted 10 processions for Shias and one for Sunnis.
On Sunday, ADM OP Pathak took a review meeting to beef up the security arrangements. To keep an eye on mischief mongers, the high rise buildings in the way of juloos will be occupied by security forces. The whole route of the juloos starting from Masjid-e-Qufa near Roza-e-Kazmain in Saadatganj and passing through Girdhari Singh Inter College, Nakhas, Bajaja, Shia College, Nazim Saheb Imambara and culminating at Mamola Masjid near Pata Nala police chowki will be under vigilant eyes of police forces. Sector magistrates have been deputed who will be personally held responsible for any untoward incident, state the district administration spokesperson. The juloos will start at around 5 am and will culminate at around 8 am.
As per Syed Naqi Hussain Zaidpuri, a notable figure on shia processions, the 19th Ramzan juloos marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali. The juloos is also known as ‘Gileem ka Juloos’ as it includes a taboot covered with blanket. After the fajr namaz at Masjid-e-qufa the juloos begins its journey. It ends with handing over the taboot to the women folk. The juloos traces its orgin to 1929-30 when Haqeem Mohd Taqui started it for the first time.
