All should keep love and peace with each other and keep self-restraint, whatever be the verdict of the Allahabad High Court in the Bari Masjid title suit, said Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, state president of the Muslim League. The verdict comes in a case that has prolonged for more than six decades. Problems were intensified by the demolition of the masjid on December 6, 1992. While the incident reflected in the national political scene in several ways, Kerala maintained to be a strong model in the part of justice and harmony, without letting a violation of the calmness.

Thangal recollected that even though several parties had tried to drag the issue to the streets, organizations like the Muslim League had always maintained the view that the court should decide the matter. Further actions should be taken in the legal way only. All have the right to approach the higher court if they feel justice has not been given. Even organizational and individual comments should be careful in the wake of the court verdict. Not a single word should hurt the follower of another religion. Everyone should take the initiative to maintain unity, friendship and communal harmony that have been here traditionally. Those having authority in the religious, political, social and administrative levels should take good care in the matter, he added.

Jamat e Islami Kerala Amir T Arifali said that the leaders and common people in the Hindu and Muslim communities expect a just solution to the problem by the court. There might be a very small minority in both communities who think otherwise. The matter has been remaining without any solution for a long time.

The Muslim community has already expressed its willingness to accept the court verdict. People should be warned against any move which is against the interests of the society and is not helpful for a peaceful atmosphere. All organizations and communities should take care that there are no emotional responses to the court verdict. The police and government should take precautions by not allowing any demonstration of joy or protest. Joint efforts should be there for a solution to the problem in such a way that there won’t be any problems later. He expressed his hope that the democratic awareness and interest of peace would be helpful for it.

Kalampadi Muhammed Musliyar and Cherusseri Sainudheen Musliyar, president and general secretary of the Samastha Kerala Jam’iyathul Ulema respectively, said in a statement that every Indian was bound to keep the good name and fame of the nation among the countries in the world. Any verdict on the Babri case should be accepted and dealt with in the legal way only. There should not be any act from any party that hurts the public interests of the country or creates hatred among different religions, the statement added.
