Chennai: Hyundai Motor India will introduce its sports utility vehicle, Sante Fe, next month as a part of its game plan of launching new models and revamping existing ones to beat competition.
“Next month we will be launching Santa Fe. We will continue to launch 2/3 models a year and open up new dealerships,”
Chief Executive H.W.Park told reporters Friday, launching an upgraded version of i10 in the city.
During the past 12 months Hyundai has been refurbishing its existing models like Santro, Accent, i20 and Verna.
Asked about the plans to launch a “people’s car” with engine capacity lower than the Santro, Arvind Saxena, director (sales and marketing) said: “The small car development is on course in South Korea.”
He said the company has no plans to launch i30, an high end hatchback, in India as the market here is not ready for the high priced model.
According to Saxena, the company will be closing this calendar year with total sales of 590,000 units (domestic sales 340,000, exports 250,000).
