Jamaat-e-Islami to hold rally against poverty, imperialism

New Delhi: To protest against the failure of central as well as state governments to curb poverty Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) is going to organize a public rally on the theme ‘Save the Country from Poverty, Slavery and Lawlessness’ on 7th Nov. in New Delhi. The rally is set to start at 10:00 a.m. at Ram Lila Ground followed by a march to Jantar Mantar.

“The Jamaat is of the view that the current policies of the central and state Governments in the country have led to a crisis situation of neo slavery which has adversely affected the day to day life of common people. India has been moving away from its basic values of justice, freedom, equity, compassion and non aligned foreign policy. The impact of post globalization neo liberal capitalist era has severely affected the ‘Aam Aadmi’ of the country, reducing him to an exploited being” read release issued by JIH.

This rally will be addressed by prominent Muslim leaders of different groups and organizations. They include Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari (President, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind), Maulana Arshad Madani (President, Jamiat-e-Ulema Hind), Mr. M. J. Akbar (Editor India Today), Mr. Syed Shahabuddin( Ex-MP), Maulana Mufti Mukarram (Shahi Imam, Fatehpuri Masjid), Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, Maulana Mahmood Madani (MP Rajya Sabha).

Before the rally JIH will be organizing 3-day ‘All India Members’ Meet’ at its headquarters in Dawat Nagar, Okhla, New Delhi from 4th to 6th November. More than 10 thousand members are expected to attend the meeting from across the country wherein several national and international issues will be discussed. Besides, it will review the role of JIH to solve the problems confronting common people and will decide future plan of its works in different fields.

In an effort to bring forth the sufferings of the Palestinians in a simple and lucid way, JIH will also organize an exhibition on the plight of Palestinians themed ‘Voice of Palestine’ from 4th – 7th November 2010 at the campus of its headquarters. The exhibition will display various material including photo galleries, documentaries, presentations, audio-visuals, books & journals. The exhibition will be open to the public on all days.
