Born in 1914 in Bijnor, he went to Darul Uloom Deoband in 1929 to get Islamic education and studied there under the guidance of Shaikhul Islam Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani and other great Ulama present at that time.

It was in 1962 when he was appointed as Member of Shura (Executive Body) of Darul Uloom Deoband. In 1981 he became mohtamim (rector) of the seminary and has since been on the post.

His body is being brought from Bijnor to Deoband. The Janazah prayer will be offered at Deoband after Isha prayer today and will be buried at Mazar-e-Qasmi graveyard in the shadow of Darul Uloom Deoband.

It should be noted here that in 2010 Darul Uloom Deoband has lost three great personalities. In February Shaikhul Hadith Maulana Nasir Ahmad Khan died while in October working rector Maulana Ghulam Rasool Khamosh passed away and now the rector Maulana Marghoobur Rahman is no more. The passing away of three great scholars and teachers within a year will be a big loss for the seminary.
