Fallujah, Iraq : A suicide car bomb struck an Iraqi police patrol in a town near the restive city of Fallujah, killing two policemen and wounding four others, a local police source said on Sunday.
“A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a police patrol on Saturday night in the al-Saqlawiyah town, 10 km northwest of Fallujah,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attack resulted in the destruction of a police vehicle and the damages of another, the source said, adding that two policemen were killed and four others on board were wounded.
Iraqi security forces in the town imposed a curfew in the wake of the bombing attack for fear of more attacks, he said.
Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, is part of the volatile province of Anbar and has long been the hotbed of insurgency against U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces since the Iraqi war broke out in 2003.
