Baghdad : The Iraqi parliament has voted on a resolution to reject Turkey’s threats to use military force against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PPK) in northern Iraq.
The resolution Sunday indicated that the decision by the Turkish parliament to ratify operations in northern Iraq does not serve as a step to reinforce bilateral relations.
The Iraqi parliament called for bolstering bilateral talks and dialogue in line with the Iraqi government’s efforts to end the dispute.
Launching an assault on northern Kurdish villages in Iraq was condemned by the parliament, calling the Turkish government to exercise restraint.
The resolution also deemed attacks from northern Iraq on Turkish targets as abrasive, asking the PKK to leave Iraqi soil.
The Iraqi parliament failed Saturday to take a united decision for a harsher resolution regarding the Turkish-Iraqi dispute. The previous resolution called on Iraqi and US forces to confront the Turkish assault.
