Gandhinagar: Foreign and domestic companies have committed to invest Rs.26,000 crore ($5.7 billion) in pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in Gujarat, a statement said here Thursday.
Health and family welfare department of Gujarat government signed various memoranda-of -understanding (MoUs) with domestic and foreign companies during the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit here.
A total of Rs.15,600 crore investment will be in health sector and Rs.10,686 crore in pharmaceuticals, according to official statement released Thursday.
A total of 131 MoUs were signed in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The MoUs promise an investment of about Rs.15,600 crore in health sector in which 23 companies have proposed an investment of over Rs.100 crore each for their projects.
Three firms have proposed total investments worth Rs.9,900 crore.
The health department has accepted proposals of three international and 38 Indian companies/trusts.
