SDPI to contest in Kerala Assembly elections

By TCN News,

Kozhikode: The Social Democratic Party of India will contest in the coming Assembly elections in Kerala. The party will contest without forming any alliance with either of the fronts in the state, said state general secretary P Abdul Majeed Faisy. The party’s candidates will be announced on March 10, Mr Faisy said at a press conference in Kozhikode.

Faisy said that the SDPI would mark its presence in all the 140 constituencies in Kerala. The party will filed its own candidates in most of the constituencies and in case it cannot, the party will field independent candidates with the support of Dalit-backward sections.

The SDPI is contesting against both the fronts which feed mafia politics and corruption. Both fronts are led by those who are either punished or under trial for corruption. They have not been able to put an end to inflation and to ease people’s lives. Both fronts are polluting Kerala with their corporate links, PSC scam, revelations that the judiciary was influenced, withdrawal of criminal cases against the sons of ministers, and the land mafia-political relations which seize the land of Adivasis and Dalits, etc. This assembly election will write the destiny of all these, added Mr Faisy. SDPI state secretary Thulaseedharan Pallikkal also attended the press conference.

This is the first Assembly election in Kerala after the formation of the SDPI. In its first attempt at election politics in the state, the party had won 12 seats in the local body polls held in October last year.
