Armed guerrillas surrounded and blew up the school building in Banke Bazar and mobile phone tower in Imamganj, about 100 km from here, officials said.

The guerrillas used dynamite to blow up the building, which was badly damaged in the blast.

The banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) had Tuesday called for a 24-hour strike in Magadh division, which comprises Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jahanabad and Arwal districts, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Rajvardhan Sharma said.

The strike is to protest the killing of villagers Karu Singh Bhokta and Sudama Bhuyian in alleged fake shootouts.

Maoists Tuesday torched 10 vehicles and blasted two mobile phone towers in Gaya district, police said.
