British High Commissioner visits Lucknow’s Islamic Centre

    Lucknow: The British High Commissioner Richard Stag interacted with Naib Imam, Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli during his visit to Islamic Centre of India in Lucknow on Wednesday.

    During his interaction Stag interacted with the students of Madarsa Nizamia of the centre. The British High Commissioner Richard Stag was pleased when the students of the madarsa interacted with him in English. Later, during his interaction with Maulana Khalid he discussed the situation of Muslims in the country. Maulana Farangi Mahli apprised him that the Muslims were living with complete harmony in the country and had complete freedom for practicing their religion. The Indian constitution gives them full freedom to practice their faith and lead a life with their identity. He also appreciated that Muslims were awakening to the developments and were no more unaware on education, social, financial and political front. Maulana Farangi Mahli, however, stated that the community was discriminated on several fronts.

    British High Commissioner Richard Stag appreciated the efforts of the centre for the uplift of the Muslim community.
