The report was Thursday submitted to Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

The commissioner after coming out of the home ministry told reporters: “It was a low intensity and mild blast and that’s why even the car under which it was placed was not damaged. We will come to know about the explosive in a day or two.”

“The explosive used was less than 250 grams and it was not aimed at causing major damage,” he added.

The crude bomb went off outside the high court complex around 1.15 p.m. No casualty was reported.

The explosion took place near the right-hand front wheel of a car in a parking bay, close to the boundary wall of the court complex.

Police earlier said that an anonymous letter was received stating that a blast would occur May 25.

“The station master of New Delhi Railway Station received a handwritten letter a few days ago in which it was hinted that a blast would take place in Delhi May 25, but no specific location was mentioned,” a senior police officer told IANS.
