Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University students on Thursday staged a protest against the outbreak of communal violence that hit various parts of India in last two months. The protest march of several hundred university students and employees started from the central Jama Masjid of AMU and ended peacefully at University circle.
The students were demanding an end to the communal riots that are happening at the behest of some communal politicians; justice to all Muslims who have survived targeted genocide in different parts of country; unconditional release of Mr. Sanjeev Bhatt (IPS officer of Gujarat) who has been put behind the bars by the Modi government for speaking out the truth about the Gujarat carnage; earliest passage and execution of Communal Violence bill in all its strength.
The students were shouting slogans against communal violence, undemocratic and illegal detention of brave IPS officer Mr. Sanjeev Bhatt and violence against Muslims throughout the country.
Moreover, protestors also blamed some sections of media for underreporting of communal violence and terrorism against minority. They blamed the media especially the English media of not giving proper coverage to the recent riots against Muslims in various parts of country.
