The telegram, later released to the Press here, said shifting of Taslima Nasreen from Kolkata to Jaipur instead of deportation from the country is "most imprudent".

It strongly pleaded that Taslima’s visa should be revoked and she deported "as her presence (is) violative of Indian ethos and Constitutional requirement of tolerance towards religion and respect for religious personalities."

The telegram also argued that "she has also become threat to peace and security."

Reiterating the demand to deport Taslima, the IUML statement said, "Indeed, violence and police excesses in Kolkata are deplorable. The Union Government must however realise the necessity of
immediate action to revoke Taslima Nasreen’s visa and to deport her. It is strange that while the whip is cracked on even the innocent on the pretext of their being Bangladeshi, here a Bangladeshi exiled from her country is being given every facility despite her blasphemous writings and defiance of religion and religious personalities."
