Islamabad : The Pakistani Supreme Court has suspended a parliamentarian over her dual citizenship, a media report said Friday.
National Assembly member Farahnaz Ispahani also holds an American citizenship, Geo TV reported. The ruling came following a hearing in the case.
Ispahani is the wife of former Pakistani ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani and was elected on a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket.
The court said Ispahani did not inform the election commission about her dual citizenship.
The case was heard by a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
