New Delhi: Fasih Mahmood, the Saudi Arabia-based engineer detained since May 13 by either Saudi or Indian agencies as a terror suspect, comes from a respected, highly educated nationalist family of Darbhanga in Bihar. Since great grandfather at least, the family has got secular education in mainstream colleges and universities of the country. In last four generations, the landlord family of Barh Samela village has so far produced only doctors, engineers and lecturers. The family has also participated in the freedom movement of the country. This is first time that a person of this decorated family has been made accused in a terror case, which the family sees as an insult.
