Stating this in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy said the CVC was a statutory body and derived its powers from the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003.

“The CBI derives its powers from the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946,” he said. “Both organisations have adequate functional autonomy.”
