“Disappointed with continued indifference of the government towards these issues JUH has also decided to organize a million men march in the national capital form Ram Lila to Jantar Mntar on March 4, 2013,” a press statement by JUH noted.

The campaign would include meeting and submitting memorandums to the leaders of all political parties for eliciting their support for the concerned issues. The national executive also directed its units to gather details of those detained especially under POTA and Tada Act.

Condemning the amendments in the UAPA Act, the JUH national executive headed by its president Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri, in a resolution appealed the members of Rajya Sabha to make sure that it does not pass in the upper house.

“In cases after cases several high courts and Supreme Court have not only acquitted the falsely accused persons because of lack of evidence but they have indicted the police and prosecuting security agencies for willfully and maliciously implicating innocent persons. In this situation, instead of making amendments in this Act, the government should introduce mechanism and specialized agency to curb and control illegal detention and trial in the name of anti- terrorism measures,” the resolution emphasized.

The resolution while pinpointing the loophole in the amended UAPA Act feared the recent amendments empowering the government to ban an organisation for five years instead of (earlier) two years on charges of unlawful activities may lead to arbitrary bans, it added.

UAPA would become source of violation of human rights and constitutional provisions, they feared.

The NEC meeting of JUH also decided to file petition in the court against removing of Muslim SRP due to spotting beard in Maharashtra police and will fight cases of victims of Assam in recent communal violence.
