Victims of demolished Ghousiya colony celebrate Republic Day

    New Delhi: The victims of Ghousiya colony, whose masjid and huts were demolished by Delhi Development Authority celebrated the 64th republic day as mark of their belief in the ‘ Constitutional and legal fabric’ of the nation.

    The celebration was jointly organized by Ghousiya Colony Rehabilitation Forum (GCRF) and social Democratic Party of India- Delhi (SDPI). The celebration began with hoisting of the tri-colour National flag by Hafiz Manzoor Ali Khan (National General Secretary- SDPI).



    While addressing the gathering Manzoor said, “The consistent democratic struggle of victims against the injustice done to them by the DDA authorities shows the belief of the victims in the state government. The government should as well take necessary actions to rebuild the Masjid and colony immediately”.

    Moulana Moulana Hashmat Ali, Imam of Ghousiya Masjid said, “The government should also take necessary step to prosecute the DDA official responsible for the demolitions of the Ghousiay Masjid as it has set a wrong precedent”.

    Mohamed Tanveer, Coordinator GCRF said, “recently the Delhi high court slapped DDA for demolishing for Ghousiya Colony without any notice or proving rehabilitation. We welcome the stand of the court and act like this strengthen the belief in Judiciary, which h is the only hope in this age of corruption and injustice in the name of development”.

    The celebrations was attend was large number of victims including children and women. Children sang patriotic songs as part of the celebration.
