New Delhi: Delhi Police Thursday chased and arrested a robber who entered the national capital after robbing at gun point a Haryana businessman of Rs.6 lakh, a police official said.
Parveen and his two associates robbed Sonu, a poultry farm owner, in Haryana’s Sonepat district, around 12 p.m. and fled on a motorcycle towards the Singhu border with Delhi.
“As soon as the accused entered the capital and took a turn towards the Narela area, police were alerted. After a chase of about 18 km, Parveen was arrested near Bakhtawarpur village. However, his associates managed to flee,” a police official said.
Although a pistol was recovered from the accused, police did not find the money looted from Sonu.
Parveen is being questioned and the police are also trying to find out his involvement in other criminal activities, the official said.
Earlier on March 20, a criminal, Rakesh, wanted in two murder cases in Haryana and Punjab, was killed in a daylight shootout with a Delhi Police team after his gang was chased in the Alipur area. Three of the five men in the gang were arrested, while one managed to flee.
