New Delhi : A Delhi court Friday fixed Jan 8, 2014 to pass its judgement in a murder case against former Uttar Pradesh legislator Udai Bhan Singh.
“Put up on Jan 8, 2014 for judgement,” said Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge V.K. Gupta.
The former legislator is facing trial with five other under the charges dealing with criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder and intimidation.
The other five accused are Sandeep Singh, Ashok Mishra, Raj Nath Mishra, Mabud Khan and Vishal Singh.
The prosecution had alleged that Udai Bhan, in complicity with others, had entered into a criminal conspiracy to eliminate Rakesh Pandey, an eyewitness, before he could give evidence in court against them in the murder case of Vakeel Shukla and two others in Gopiganj.
Pandey was allegedly shot dead by Santosh Singh on Feb 17, 2003. Santosh Kumar Singh and other two accused, Vinod Kumar Singh and Bashir Khan, died during the pendency of trial and another accused, Kallu, was declared as a proclaimed offender.
Currently serving a life sentence in the Shukla murder case, Udai Bhan is lodged in Fatehgarh Jail in Uttar Pradesh.
