There are two kind of people came to this world, one who live for others and the others who live for themselves. Maulana Zubair ul Hasan lived for others. Born in Kandhla village of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on March 30 in 1950 Maulana Zubair Hasan, the Amir of Tablighi Jamat worldwide Muslim reform movement that originated from India, passed away on March 18.
Maulana Zubair never missed the ‘Mashwara Majlis’ and listened carefully to everyone at Tabligi Jamaat Headquarters at Nizamuddin in New Delhi. Largely known for his Dua Maulana Zubair rarely addressed the gathering in Ijtemaat of Jamaat like his father and third Ameer of Tabligi Jamaat , who died in 1995 Maulana Inamul Hasan following Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Kandhalawi and Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Kandhalawi . Due to his obesity he always was on wheel chair but see-off the hundreds of Jamaat every day at Nizamuddin Markaz to the different parts of India and abroad with guidelines and blessings as his inevitable schedule.
Being a blessed grandson of celebrated Muslim scholar Maulana Zakariyya, Maulana Zubair learned the Quran by heart and Persian, Arabic and other basic subjects before joining the Madrasa Mazahirul Uloom in Saharanpur where he graduated in 1971. He was also among the followers of Maulana Zakariyya and had a knot of bai’t with him.
After the demise of his father he became the Ameer of Tabligi Jamaat and also selected among few Almi Shura member (member of world advisory council) including Maulana Saad sb and Maulana Izhar from India and Maulana Zainul Abdeen and Haji Abdul Wahab from Pakistan and members from Bangladesh as well.
Maulana Zubair also used to teach at Madrasa Kashif-ul-Uloom attached to Banglewali Masjid in Nizamuddin Basti, the headquarters or Markaz of Tablighi Jamaat.
He was also the teacher of Maulana Saad, a prominent figure among the leaders of Tabligi Jamaat at Nizamuddin headquarters.
He got married with Tahira Khatoon in 1969 daughter of Maulana Ilyas Kandhlwi, who founded Tablighi Jamaat. He survived by three sons and three daughters.
Maulana Zubair ul Hasan died in Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML), formerly known as Willingdon Hospital on early morning on 19 of this month. He was in ICU for last few weeks in New Delhi.
According to reports, Maulana Zubair ul Hasan was diabetic.
He was a scholar and religious leader famous among Muslims and Non- Muslims both. Under his leadership, and with the guidance of a council of scholars, the Tabligh had grown from a grass root organization to one with an international reputation known for spreading Islam’s basic principles. The movement world has listen his passing away after a brief spell of illness here in Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital the wave of sadness went through the country and abroad specially among the Muslims, condolence meeting held at various places throughout the country.
Different organizations and individuals send the condolence messages. People across the city rushed to join funeral ceremony at Nizamuddin. Government of India also expressed its grief on his demise. In his message Minority Affairs Minister K. Rahman Khan said, “Maulana Zubair took over the responsibility at a time when Tablighi Jamaat had become an international movement and there was a strong need of its consolidation. Maulana proved himself true to the standards as set out by the seniors of the movement. During last two decades, Maulana has strengthened the movement enormously by his hard work, dedication for the movement and knowledge.”
In his statement Ameer Jamaat Islami Hind, Maulana Jalaluddin Umri said, “The gape vacated by Maulana Zubair is huge enough, he used to deliver Dares-Hadees and has a keen desire and passion to lead the people toward right path.”
Maulana Arshad Madni in his condolence message said, “He was one of two pillars of Tabligh, and famous worldwide for his work and dedication”.
AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal in his message said, “Maulana Zubair is no longer with us but his teachings remain as milestone,” adding, “as Maulana dedicated his life to the betterment of community and country others should follow the track in order to change the society and nation.”
Prominent Muslim leader and Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board Mateen Ahmed said the leader’s death was a loss to the community as he was engaged in spreading the Prophet’s message to the people. “He has worked for the benefit of the community for many years. It’s a loss for everyone,” he said.
Shahi Imam Maulana Bukhari said the Ameer was an important Muslim leader who worked for the benefit of the community. “He remained non-political throughout his life and only concerned himself with matters of religion,” he said.
