Srinagar : A magisterial probe was Friday ordered into Wednesday’s firing in the Jammu and Kashmir capital in which a youth was killed and three others were injured, officials said.
Srinagar District Magistrate Farooq Ahmad Shah said a magisterial probe has been ordered into the firing in the old city area of Nawa Kadal, in which Bashir Ahmad, son of Muhammad Shafi, a resident of Gratabal Nawa Kadal, was killed.
The probe will be completed and the report submitted within 15 days, he said.
Meanwhile, authorities Friday decided to continue curfew in Srinagar city Saturday as a preventive measure.
Curfew was imposed in seven areas of Srinagar following Wednesday’s firing incident.
Residents and family members have alleged that security forces killed Bashir Ahmad without any provocation.
Police said the situation Friday remained normal throughout the valley, but isolated stone-pelting incidents were reported from Gulshan Chowk and Naid Khai in Bandipora district and Khanpora in Baramulla district.
“Miscreants pelted stones at an ambulance at Sheikh Mohalla in Bandipora, resulting in injuries to the ambulance driver and damage to the ambulance,” a police official said.
