Campus placement for students of Arabic, Islamic Studies etc at AMU

Aligarh: A three-member delegation of Gems Education, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) visited the Aligarh Muslim University and interacted with a selected group of students from departments of Arabic, Islamic Studies, Theology, Centre for Quranic Studies and the Bridge Course.

The delegation, led by Mr. David Wilson, Director of Asian Schools and Chief Academic Officer, GEMS India, visited the Aligarh Muslim University under a campus placement drive for recruiting Arabic and English knowing teachers from AMU.

Addressing the interactive session with AMU students and research scholars, Mr. Wilson said that the delegation has come to AMU to conduct a placement drive on the invitation of AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah. He said that his organization runs 43 schools in UAE and 97% students in these schools are of Indian origin. He said that there is a great demand for Arabic and Islamic Studies teachers in UAE schools and his organization, Gems Education, caters to their needs through campus recruitment programmes.

The visiting team comprised Ms. Esther Supriya Iyer, Manager-Recruitment, Gems Education and Mr. Saleem Khan, an alumnus of this institution. They interacted with the AMU students and completed the first stage of recruitment process. This is the first time when such an initiative has been taken for campus placement of students of Arabic, Islamic Studies and Theology.
