“The ministry has felt that the safety and the security of school children in any school system is a critical priority. The ministry feels that it is deeply disturbing that such a serious incident has happened. It has also noted the reports of other incidents in some other schools affiliated with CISCE,” a statement from the HRD ministry said.

The school is reported to be affiliated with the CISCE board, which conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations.

“CISCE has been requested to look into the matter and furnish a detailed report including action taken, to the HRD ministry immediately,” the statement said.

“The ministry has also pointed out to CISCE that the state government of Karnataka has recommended that the affiliation granted to VIBGYOR High School be withdrawn,” the statement added.

A six-year-old girl student of the school was allegedly raped in a classroom July 2.
