Through a press release, Popular Front chairman KM Shareef has cautioned against sensationalizing the Al-Qaeda video, which shows the group’s head Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri announcing that his group is extending its activities into the Indian subcontinent although the authenticity of the video still remain unknown.

Shareef said that numerous such video tapes came out with similar claims in the past had latter been proved to be fake or propaganda tools of war mongering superpowers who wants to expand their hegemony in third world countries including India. He appealed to the authorities and Muslim community not to fall prey to such agendas.

Shareef also mocked the idea that Indian Muslims, the third largest Muslim population in the world, is waiting for some outside liberators like Al-Qaeda whose relevance has almost come to its en in its own bastions.

“With all their problems and opportunities, Indian Muslims are capable of taking their fate into their own hands without any outside assistance. Of course, neither Al-Qaeda nor any such groups can have any impact here”, the PFI statement reads.

Popular Front of India is not the only Indian organization questioning authenticity of the video but a Mumbai-based Bharat Bachao Andolan (BBA) also suspect the video to be floated by some groups to whip up a communal frenzy among India’s majority Hindu community and target Muslims.

“Over the course of many years we had seen similar Al Qaeda (video) statements which were later all proved to be fake ones- created by the right wing communal elements within the Indian intelligence community, aligned with the Mossad and CIA…The agenda (behind such a statement) is to clearly vilify and demonize Indian Muslims, and further deepen the communal divide, thus making it easier for the Hindutva brigade to implement their fascist agenda,” the BBA statement said.
