He was hacked to death at Pavaratty Chukku Bazaar near Thrissur by five member gang of alleged RSS activists. Though he was rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to injuries there.

Alleging that RSS was behind the murder, AC Moideen, party’s district secretary, in a statement, demanded stringent action against the culprits involved.

TCN could not reach RSS for its comments.

Shihab’s brother Mujeeb was murdered by RSS activists on January 26, 2006.

Meanwhile, the dawn-to-dusk 12-hour hartal called by CPI (M) in Thrissur to protest Shihab’s murder paralysed normal life across the district today. Shops and commercial establishments remained closed in most parts of the district. However, services of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses were not affected.
