Bhubaneswar : The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday decided to take on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government by highlighting its shortcomings through the agitation path.
BJP constituted several committees to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and take on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) goverment in the state. The party adopted several political resolutions in the two-day executive meet which concluded on Sunday.
“We have decided to take up agitational programmes against the BJD government for failing to provide good governance to the people,” BJP’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh told mediapersons here.
He said the BJP would raise the issues including of the deteriorated health service, instability in financial condition, price rise of essential commodities, farmers’ issues, unemployment and atrocity against women in Odisha.
BJP legislative party leader Basant Panda said the party would also approach people to highlight the developmental programmes and schemes initiated by Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre in last one year.
Stating that the party leaders were in an enthusiastic mood, he hoped that BJP would emerge as an alternative in 2019 elections in the state.
BJP has formed a committee namely Programme Planning and Implementation Committee, which will identify the political issues in the state that would be raised by the party.
