Mumbai: In an unprecedented display of anguish and haplessness, the convicts of 7/11 serial train blasts case have composed some couplets explaining their sorrow and grievance over the investigation and subsequent sentencing of all.

The 274 words sad poem is written by Ehtesham Siddique and signed by all 12 convicts in the end. He wrote it after 12 out of 13 accused in the case have been judged culprit on September 11 by the special MCOC court.

All had also sent a collective open letter to victims of the blasts urging them to help them in appeal before Bombay High court as justice has not done with both of them – victim and accused.

In this sad poem Ehtesham tried to narrate events in the case and how they lived 9 years behind bars under false charges but with a hope that they will be released by court. Calling themselves as ‘sacrificial goats’, Ehtesham called Raghuvanshi, the then ATS chief of Maharashtra as the diety for whom they have been sacrificed.

He says their hope was enlighten when Rakesh Maria, joint commissioner of police in 2008 arrested some youths, obtained their confessions and confirmed role of Indian Mujahideen behind serial blasts of 7/11 in 2006.

But, Ehtesham cries even after such exploding revelation Raghuvanshi’s investigation was backed up by government and Maria’s claims were suppressed.

Reiterating them to be the victims of the blasts, Ehtesham writes to people that justice is not being delivered but on the costs of lives of innocent 12 men just to please citizens and to make voice of the state machinery and government aloud.

On Wednesday MCOC court sentenced 5 to death and 7 to life imprisonment.

Asif Khan, Ehtesham Kutubuddin Siddiqui, Naveed Hussain Khan, Kamal Ahmed Mohammed Vakil Ansari and Mohammed Faisal Ataur Rahman Shaikh are sentenced to death while Dr Tanveer Ahmed Mohammed Ibrahim Ansari, Mohammed Majid Mohammed Shafi, Shaikh Mohammed Ali Alam Shaikh, Mohammed Sajid Margub Ansari, Muzammil Ataur Rahman Shaikh, Sohail Mehmood Shaikh, Zameer Ahmed Latifur Rehman Shaikh and Rasheed Hussain Khan are sentenced to life.

Following are the couplets written by Ehtesham Siddique and signed by all 12 convicts:

From the living dead: True victims of 7/11

You cry at the injured, and cry at the dead

On a single day of Horror, where humanity fled

O’ the said victims of blasts in the train

The entire nation is with you in your pain

Alas for us, who’ve stood all alone

A special set of victims with unheard moan

Snatched from our families, our reputation torn

Tortured worse than animals, hitting every bone

Labeled as outcasts, with none to hear us groan

Crying aloud for justice, we screamed like a banshee

But were told to be sacrificial goats for the deity Raghuvanshi

Goats reared for almost a decade

Where families were destroyed & loved ones bade

In dark dungeons we lived under horrors shade

Psychologically challenged, all outside memories fade

Suddenly in between somewhere, light was to appear

Mr. Maria brought justice somewhat near

He revealed confessions from a person arrested

Whose organization’s role in blasts, was confirmed and attested

But alas for us goats! The state cannot be wrong!

Raghuvanshi’s stand was forcefully made strong

While Mr Maria was sent to distance too long

So our fate were sealed to fully suffice

The butchers who’d prepared for the great sacrifice!

Dear fellow citizens, cries to you our soul,

You have been fooled, your justice they stole

To please you falsely & keep you under control.

As for us goats, we shall remain sorrow-fed

For more than 9 years, our lives bled

True victims of 7/11 are we, we are the living dead!

Today I stand away from my herd losing all calm

My soul mocks me, “Justice is over you for Ehtesham”!
