Mumbai: Members of All India Ulama Council met Consul General E. Sabri Ergen at Turkish Consulate General in Mumbai, India and handed over a letter addressed to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and people of Turkey to congratulate them against their victory in the attempted coup on Friday, July 15.
“Allah (SWT) has bestowed you with courage and strategy that you came out successfully and protected your nation from a dangerous plot of organised mischief and disorder. Actually some jaundiced eyes have been jealous for a long time because of your good governance…they got a chance and tried to overthrow your democratically elected government with tanks and fighter jets. But Al-Hamdullilah your brave people stood before them before Himalayan Mountain and came out in streets like swarm of hud-hud which ultimately failed the attempted coup,” the letter said.
Adding that the delegation stood with the people of Turkey and their elected government at this time of crises, the Ulama Council added that this was a show of solidarity and support with the people of Turkey who had upheld the concept of democracy.
When asked about the recent announcement of an emergency by the Erdogan government, Burhanduddin Qasmi, a member of the delegation, Twocircles.net, “The coup was an attempt to demolish the secular democratic nature of Turkey. We expect that even in the case of an emergency, the government elected by the people will remain true to its democratic nature. We are confident that the government will not make any attempts or laws that will curb individual freedom or tarnish the democratic fabric of the country.”
