New Delhi/Bhubaneswar : Uttar Pradesh mafia don Brijesh Singh, who was once a close associate of underworld mobster Dawood Ibrahim and was absconding for more than 20 years, was arrested at Bhubaneswar Thursday.
Delhi Police nabbed Brijesh Singh in a joint operation with their counterparts in Orissa, police sources here said.
Singh carries a reward of Rs.500,000 on his head. Apart from Dawood Ibrahim, he was also closely associated with Uttar Pradesh don-turned legislator Mukhtar Ansari.
He was wanted in over 100 cases ranging from murder to extortion and abduction.
“Singh was wanted in Uttar Pradesh and carried a reward of Rs.500,000 on his head,” a senior police official said.
Singh had been living in the Orissa capital for the last five years posing as a real estate builder, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Amitav Thakur.
“He used to change his name frequently,” Thakur told IANS.
