“Mecca blast verdict is a cruel political decision to save Hindutva terrorists,” says Navaid Hamid

New Delhi: Navaid Hamid, the president of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) — the apex body of Indian Muslims — has expressed his deep anguish and sorrow over the acquittal of RSS functionary Aseemanand and four other members of Hindutva right groups in Mecca Masjid blast by NIA court.

Hamid has termed the acquittal as “travesty of justice and sign of the collapse of the judicial system” in the press statement released on Tuesday.

Hamid added, “Unfortunately, it seems, it happens only because of the total connivance of the public prosecutor with the culprits and under the directions of the people in government.”

He further added that NIA court has totally ignored the confession of the main accused Aseemanand given in an interview and earlier also the allegations he made against the RSS leadership including its chief Mr. Mohan Bhagwat in his interview.

“How strange it is that since the BJP became to power in 2014, the culprits who have been arrested and charged in various terror cases have been constantly getting bails just because of their association with saffron groups and weakening of the cases against them by the government,” added Hamid.

The AIMMM president is of the firm opinion that “the latest acquittal is not a judicial decision but as seems to be a cruel political decision to save the saffron Hindutva terrorists and is an attempt to wash away the open secret that Hindutva groups and hate organizations have nothing to do with terror activities.”

Navaid Hamid has demanded that the government should immediately file a review petition to challenge the NIA acquittal in a competent court without losing time to prove its neutrality and seriousness to tackle terrorist and terror cases.
