Bhopal : In a big loan default case in Madhya Pradesh Wakf Board, several wakf committees have reportedly gobbled Rs 68 lakh sanctioned by the Central Wakf Council (CWC). The loans were taken by a dozen committees for some maintenance and development work at wakf properties. The CWC has mounted pressure on the state wakf board to repay the loans that were provided to the committees through it.

Meanwhile, the board has decided to attach the concerned wakf properties so that the defaulting committees could not siphon off income from those properties to repay the loans.

Responding to the CWC notice about the repayment of the loans, the state wakf board sent notice to defaulters. Only two or three committees are reported to have responded. It is reported that some committees used the loan amount for personal purposes.
