New Delhi : India said Thursday that its scientists possessed the expertise of building commercially viable nuclear reactors and the country may share this knowledge with other developing countries if they seek.
Speaking at a programme at Southern Indian town of Tuticorin, India’s Atomic Energy Commission Chairperson Anil Kakodkar said Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd (NPCL) had a lot of expertise in the field of nuclear reactors and could share this expertise with other countries if they requested it.
He was speaking at a programme where a giant caisson (sea water intake pipe made of concrete) for the nuclear power project near Tuticorin was set afloat on the sea off the India’s Southern coast, Indo Asian News Service reported.
Kakodkar said there were no present plans to allow private sector participation in the country’s nuclear power sector.
