Islamabad : Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro lauded the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry for promoting business and investment in the country and said Pakistan was an ideal place for foreign investors.
“Pakistan offers great economic opportunities to both local and foreign investors with handsome return on their investments,” he said at an LCCI reception Thursday night.
He said Lahore Chamber has always played an active role in supplementing government efforts particularly for the economic growth and prosperity of the country.
“I appreciate their inputs in formulation of government policies and regulatory affairs through various consultative and advisory committees,” he added.
The economic policies of the government, he said, are aimed at making Pakistan a regional hub for business activities.
He said these policies are pursued for creating an enabling environment for public-private partnership.
The Prime Minister said with a growth rate of over 6 percent, supported by a large market, Pakistan is one of the most attractive economies for investment.
He expressed the hope that Lahore being a hub of industry and trade, will continue to play its vital role in the economy of the country.
President LCCI Muhammad Ali Mian said the chamber will continue to make efforts for improving Pakistan’s economy.
He said Pakistan, due to its geographical location, is an ideal destination for foreign investment.
Dean of Ambassadors Sapar Berdiniyazova urged the foreign investors to take full advantage of the opportunities that Pakistan offer.
He particularly lauded the unprecedented progress by the country in IT and telecom sectors.
Berdiniyazova termed Pakistan energy corridor for the region adding in near future, it will become the hub of economic activities.
He said Pakistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan gas pipeline was of vital importance which will play a pivotal role in enhancing the economic activities in the region.
He assured that as dean of ambassadors, he will urge the ambassadors of other countries in Islamabad to pursue their respective governments for more investments in Pakistan.
