New Delhi: The governments, both in the state and centre, are trying to kill Mohammad Ali Jauhar University established in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. Besides, its founder and chancellor Mohammad Azam Khan is being harassed. This exposes how sincere the government is for the problems confronting Muslims, said Javed Habib, national president of Bharati Majlis and ex-president of AMU student union. He was addressing a seminar organized by Students Islamic Federation of India on ‘Maulana Jauhar University and Government Attitude’ on 14th February in New Delhi.
Condemning the demolition of the boundary wall of the university, he said efforts are being made to demolish the university like Babri Masjid. He said the communal elements did not want the university become a center of higher education for Muslims in north India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ilyas Malik, convener of National Rabita Forum, wondered why obstacles are created only in the establishment of Muslim organizations and Muslim educational institutions. He said the government speaks about the implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations on one hand and makes all efforts to ruin the Jauhar University on the other.
