Islamabad : The visiting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Michael Mullen on Tuesday reiterated the commitment of the U.S. to a long-term relationship with Pakistan.
Michael Mullen made the remarks during his meeting with Pakistan’s top leadership including President Pervez Musharraf.
Mullen met with Musharraf in the garrison city of Rawalpindi and expressed his appreciation for the Pakistani army’s efforts infighting against terrorism. They also discussed the war on terror and security situation.
Later he called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Tariq Majid at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Mullen held a wide-ranging discussion with General Tariq Majid on matters of mutual relations between the two countries. They also exchanged views on current regional security issues.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mullen held talks with Pakistani army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and discussed matters of professional interest with particular reference to security situation in the region.
Mullen arrived here on Monday for his second visit to Pakistan in less than one month. Mullen visited Pakistan in early February.
