Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Governor N.D. Tiwari handed over letters sanctioning computers to 75 madrasas on 8th March in a function organized by the Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy.
Addressing the gathering, the governor said computer is a modern tool which has radically transformed the world of education. He observed that no student could do without a computer, Internet, mobile phone in view of their growing importance in society. The academy will provide computers to madrasas.
The state government has allocated Rs.1 crore for 2007-08 to provide computers to all madrasas. So far 67 madrasas have been supplied 199 computer systems along with printers.
Speaking at the programme, Mohd. Ali Shabbir, Minister for Energy, stressed on the importance of education for the uplift of backward Muslim families. He said the government was ready to provide funds to madrasas for appointing instructors to teach their students. He said the Minority Welfare Department would provide Rs.5 crore for performing mass marriages of poor Muslim girls in April.
Mohd. Fareeduddin, Minister for Cooperation, said the government had increased the budget allocation to Minority Welfare Department and the Urdu Academy so as to eliminate social backwardness from within the Muslim community.
