Saudi Arabia hopes OIC Summit would strengthen Muslim unity

Riyadh : Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers yesterday emphasized the importance of the 11th Summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to be held in Dakar, capital of Senegal on March 13-14. It appreciated the efforts of Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade to make the summit a success, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. More than 5,000 delegates, including heads of state and ministers, are expected from over 50 nations.

The Cabinet hoped the summit would strengthen Muslim unity. “The summit is held at a time when the Islamic world faces challenges and situations that demand joint effort. The Cabinet expressed its hope that the summit would unify the ranks of the Islamic Ummah,” according to the Cabinet statement.
