Jerusalam : Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas here on Monday to discuss the peace progress between the two neighbors.
The meeting is the first between the two leaders since Abbas suspended at the beginning of March his bi-weekly meetings with Olmert in protest to an Israeli ground military operation in the Gaza Strip which left some 130 Palestinians killed.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Chief Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qureia are expected to join the two for the first part of the meeting, and Olmert and Abbas will then meet in private in an attempt to push the negotiations forward, local daily Yedioth Aharonoth reported on its web site.
