Xinhua news agency, quoting government officials, reminds that shortly after the violent protests of March 14 in Lhasa, Tibet, Prime Minister Wen Jiabao confirmed Chinas stand at a press conference following the Peoples National Assembly closing session.

In response to repeated requests by the Dalai to resume talks, the central government will send an official to make contact and consult with his private representative.

Those contacts are hoped to encourage credible steps by the Dalai to give up efforts to divide China, stop complots, inciting violence, and quit disturbing and sabotage the Olympic Games, the wishes that ááááForeign Ministry Spokesman Jiang Yu voiced early this month.

China has also reaffirmed the mistake to see the Dalai just as a church leader, overlooking his status of exiled political leader.
