Poongothai’s social welfare portfolio has been allotted to P. Geetha Jeevan, another woman ministerm, a Raj Bhavan release said.
Poongothai submitted her resignation to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi May 14 following an expose of an alleged telephone conversation between her and a senior police official during which she reportedly sought favour for a relative.
Karunanidhi said the same day that “an appropriate decision would be taken later on the unfortunate development”.
Poongothai, however, denied wrong-doing and claimed it was “a routine official conversation”.
