Israeli airstrike kills four Palestinians

By IINA,

Gaza City : Israeli warplanes launched at least three attacks on Palestinians yesterday, killing four Palestinians, including a 13-year-old boy, Palestinian doctors said, as talks continued in Egypt on a proposed truce. Palestinian doctors said the boy was decapitated and another youth was seriously injured. A witness said he saw a mobile rocket-launching stand in the area. The teenager, Majd Khalil Abu Okal, was killed in an air raid on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, said Muawiya Hassanein, the head of Gaza Emergency Services. A second Palestinian, Ali Al-Dahduh, 32, was killed by Israeli forces in central Gaza, and a fighter was killed in Zeitun, in eastern Gaza, Hassanein said.

Another Hamas fighter, identified as Zeid Abu Wadi, 21, died in hospital hours after sustaining serious wounds in the same strike, he said. Palestinian medics said 11 people were wounded by Israeli fire. A spokeswoman said one strike was conducted against a group of Palestinians who planted a bomb near a security post on the border with Israel and another air raid targeted militants who had fired rockets. Palestinian witnesses also reported tank fire, although there was no immediate confirmation from the Israeli army. Israeli forces conduct almost daily raids in Gaza and have imposed a blockade on the Palestinian territory since last June in what they say is an attempt to pressure the Hamas authorities to stop rocket or mortar on southern Israel by militant groups.
