Armed Taliban were traveling in Bajaur tribal region when explosives in their vehicles went off in Salarzai area, according to reports.

Two other local Taliban were also injured in the explosion.

There was no official word on the incident.

Pakistani Taliban are very active in Bajaur tribal region and U.S-led coalition forces in Afghanistan have carried out missile strikes in the area to target suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban.

The US military drone fired missile at the house of a local Taliban leader in Bajaur on May 14 and killed 14 people, according to Maulvi Umar, the spokesman for the Taliban.

Bajaur agency is considered to be a hotbed for the Taliban and al Qaeda.

The US struck in Damadola area of Bajaur in January 2006, a strike targeted but missed a meeting that was thought to have been attended by Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s second in command.

Again in October 2006, at least 80 militants were killed in an air strike by U.S forces in Afghanistan on a religious school in Bajaur.
