The win ended Jeev’s 18-month drought.

Jeev shot an even par 71 to total 15-under 198 and emerge a winner by one stroke at the Fontana Golf Club. Jeev was one clear of Simon Wakefield (68) who was 14-under and three adrift of a group of five players Pelle Edberg, Martin Erlandsson, Peter Fowler, Michael Jonzon and Michael Pyman, all of whom were at 12-under 201.

Wakefield made a great charge in the closing stages with three birdies in last four holes but still ended at 14-under, which was one short of Jeev’s score of 15-under, which remained the target for all through the day.

The tournament had been cut short to three rounds after the first day was washed out due to rain.

Jeev has been in wonderfully consistent form for most of the year with two second place finishes and a tenth spot at the Wales Open last week.

The Austrian Open is Jeev’s third win on the European Tour following successes at the Volvo China Open and Volvo Masters of Europe in 2006. His last tournament win came at the Golf Nippon Cup Series JT Cup in December 2006.
