Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi indicated clearly Friday that the the PMK’s continuing criticism of the state government has forced senior members of his party to rethink on the alliance.
“Arcot N. Veerasamy and Durai Murugan, senior members of our party (and state cabinet ministers) have questioned the logic of continuing the alliance with the PMK after its leader’s (Ramadoss) repeated, baseless, wounding and insulting remarks against us,” Karunanidhi said at the marriage function of a party functionary.
The party’s executive scheduled to meet next week will decide upon the future course of action, Karunanidhi added.
Ramadoss has repeatedly faulted the government for eavesdropping on opposition leaders and journalists’ conversations, for failures in the law and order situation, corruption in the police force, and has questioned the regime’s education policy.
The PMK boss, however, has also repeatedly reiterated that his party would support the DMK government for its full term.
The DMK has a strength of 95 legislators in the 235-member house and is supported by the Congress (35), Communist Party of India-Marxist (9), Communist Party of India (6), VCK (1)and the PMK which has 18 members.
