Mewat (Haryana): The Mewat Development Authority, a government body, will send 15 girl students to Bangalore for a diploma in nursing course and will bear 80% of expenses on the project.
The 42-month long nursing course will cost Rs 11 lac, of which about Rs 3 lac will be shared by the parents of the girls and the rest will be paid by MDA. This is the first time that girl students from Mewat will be sponsored for a professional course. Majority of the selected girls are Meos (the word used for Muslims in the area).
Of late, Mewat has witnessed upsurge in number of girls going to schools. In all six model schools, girls are seen in good numbers.
It is hoped that after completion of the nursing course, all girls will be accommodated in the government’s health department.
