All Delhi assembly constituencies to have fire stations

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday announced that the Delhi government would establish fire stations in each assembly constituency and all fire stations in the city would be modernized with specialized equipment.

“Seven new fire stations would be commissioned this month,” said Dikshit after inaugurating two new fire Stations at Sector 5 and Sector 15 of Rohini.

Delhi has 70 assembly constituencies.

Fire station at Sector 5 of Rohini has been constructed at a cost of about Rs.42.5 million providing three bays for fire appliances, office accommodation and 23 staff quarters.

Fire station at Sector 15 of Rohini has been constructed at a cost of Rs.44 million, also providing three bays for fire appliances, office accommodation and 25 staff quarters.

“It is becoming necessary to set up new fire stations as large-scale multi-storeyed buildings and colonies are coming up,” Dikshit said.

Fire stations at Paschim Vihar, Shastri Park, Mangolpuri, Tigri Kalan, Tahirpur, Sarita Vihar and Jwala Hedi would be inaugurated this month.
