Dhaka : At least five people were killed and 16 injured Tuesday in a head-on collision between a night coach and a truck in Bangladesh’s northwestern Rangpur district, a media report said.
The police said the bus collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction at about 9 a.m., some 304 km northwest of capital Dhaka, private news agency UNB reported.
Three people were killed on the spot, while two died on their way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, it said.
The bus driver and his helper were among the victims.
Earlier on Sunday, at least 10 people were killed and 62 injured in other road accidents in the country.
According to an official report, more than 10,000 people die every year in road accidents across Bangladesh.
